Asteryia was not always divided.
Twelve hundred years ago, all of Asteryia was united, and magic was abundant. The gods lived among the Asteryians, blessing their zodiac descendants with power and knowledge. Four hundred years later, the gods warred for power. They made alliances and divided Asteryia into four realms: Aeralen for air signs, Fyrea for fire signs, Hudorlen for water signs, and Khthonea for earth signs. The gods withdrew from the lands, causing the Asteryian’s powers to dull, and their mortality fueled derision among the people. Two years ago, all of Asteryia inexplicably began to lose daylight.
